Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an individualized and effective approach for supporting children with autism and other behavioral challenges. In-home ABA therapy promotes skill development in the child's natural environment, making it easier for them to learn and apply these skills in daily life.
Our Registered Behavior Technicians offer personalized, one-on-one support for your child right at home, under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. We carefully evaluate your child's needs to create a tailored treatment plan.

What Your First In-Home Session Looks Like
Before therapy begins, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst evaluates your child's needs and builds a tailored treatment plan. Early sessions focus on building rapport between your child and their behavior technician and setting up a consistent therapy space in your home. Parents stay involved throughout — receiving real-time feedback and practical strategies to reinforce positive behaviors between sessions.
How to Prepare for Home-Based Therapy
- Have a Dedicated Space: The ideal space for home-based ABA therapy should be free from distractions. Consistency is key, so using the same area for every session could help your child feel more comfortable and secure with each session. If you are unsure which space will be the best to meet your child's needs, your Board Certified Behavior Analyst will work with you to decide which space will best support your child's learning.
- Get the Necessary Tools: Creating a comfortable learning environment with age-appropriate materials is essential for ABA therapy, including a child-sized table and chairs. Your therapist may use sensory tools, toys, or puzzles, which should be stored away when not in use to keep them engaging and effective during sessions.
- Get Involved & Be Available: Caregivers and family members can continue their daily routines during therapy sessions, but a responsible adult must always be present and available to join when needed.
In-Home and Center-Based ABA Work Together
You don't have to choose just one setting. Home sessions build skills in the environment where they'll actually be used, while center-based sessions allow for better focus and concentration, faster mastery, and social practice with peers. All 8 Bridgeway centers offer both in-home and clinic-based ABA, so your BCBA can recommend the mix that best serves your child — and adjust it as your child progresses.
Therapy can also extend into community settings such as parks, libraries, playgrounds, and schools to promote generalization. Explore our full ABA therapy services in Utah to see center-based options, including Day Treatment and intensive summer programs.
Insurance & Utah Medicaid Coverage for In-Home ABA
Thanks to the Utah Autism Insurance Mandate Expanded, Senate Bill 95 effective January 1, 2020, individuals of any age will be covered under state-regulated individual and large group plans. The new law removes previously existing age and hour caps for coverage of ASD. This will allow for more access to services for transition-aged youth and adults with autism here in Utah.
Bridgeway accepts Utah Medicaid — whose coverage includes ABA therapy for autism spectrum disorder — and most major private insurance plans. We encourage you to check with your insurance provider for specific details; our dedicated insurance specialists are experts in facilitating coverage for your needs. We also offer multiple payment plan options and some limited scholarship assistance. See our accepted insurance plans for the full list.
